A peine arrivée à Paris, CAPITALE de la MODE… Castings & rendez-vous ininterrompus avec les agents recruteurs, et les recruteuses …

Selon les « professionnels de la profession », je découvre que je serais hors normes, le gabarit des mannequins, aurait été normalisé entre 178 & 180 cm … faute de mieux ?

Dans les agences parisiennes, c’est comme à la ferme : les tomates, les cerises ou les œufs, tout ce qui n’est pas dans la toise reste par terre, à moins, qu’un créateur de génie qui voudrait se faire remarquer, ne s’intéresse à mes 6 pieds sur terre, 59 kg sur 1 mètre 82,88 !

Alors, en plus d’être trop noire, voici que je suis trop grande, on pourrait aussi m’appeler « Too-Tall » …

Du coup je me lance quand même, quitte à travailler toute seule, en direct, et dès cette première fashion week parisienne, sur chaque casting, je me retrouve dans la sélection, puisque sur chaque défilé, c’est ma pomme qu’on retrouve en tête des reportages !

C’est ainsi que SAMTIFAR, « le vilain petit canard » * s’est retrouvé sur Madame Figaro, Bazaar & The Impression

Moralité : « On ne peut pas contenter tout le monde et son père ...

In spring 2024, Samtifar leaves Dakar for Paris.

Barely arrived in Paris, CAPITAL of FASHION… Castings & uninterrupted meetings with recruiting agents and recruiters…

According to the “professionals of the profession”, I discovered that I would be out of the norm, the size of the models would have been standardized between 178 and 180 cm… for want of something better?

In some Parisian agencies, it's like on the farm: tomatoes, cherries or eggs, everything that is not in the measuring stick stays on the ground, unless a genius creator who wants to be noticed, is interested in my 6 feet on the ground, 58 kg and 1,8288 meters.

So, in addition to being too black, I am too tall, you could also call me “Too-Tall” …

So I work alone, directly, and without intermediary commission.

So I went ahead anyway, even if it meant working on my own, live, and right from that first Paris fashion week, at every casting, I found myself in the selection, and then at every show, it was my photo at the head of the reports!

That's how SAMTIFAR, “the ugly duckling” * ended up on Madame Figaro, Bazaar & The Impression.
